Day 2: Timisoara – The Corvini Castle – Sibiu

In the evening we will arrive in Sibiu, the European Capital of Culture in 2007, dominated by the Tower of the Clock or Council Tower dating to the medieval era and by the extensive 18th – 19th century Brukenthal museum, the former residence of the governor of Transylvania. The big square, the small square and Huet Square, with the Evangelical Cathedral, show off in all their beauty.

Day 3: Sibiu - Alba Iulia - Turda - Cluj

Visit Cluj Napoca, famous for its St. Michael’s Church, which has seen the passage of several cults and is behind the imposing statuary complex representing the famous King Mattia Corvino and his closest soldiers. Famous for its university where lectures are held in several languages, and to be an important center for Hungarians, Cluj is now a well developed city both economically, culturally and touristically.

Day 4: Cluj - Surdesti - Barsana - Vadu Izei - Sighetu Marmatiei
Stop At: Surdesti Wooden Church, Surdesti Romania
The church of Şurdeşti (Unesco) was the tallest wooden church in Europe with its tower of 54 m and a total height of 72 m until some years ago when the new 78 m tall church of the monastery of Peri in Săpânţa was built.
It is also the only church in the Land of Chioar that has double-eaved roof. The two superposed rows of arches above the porch are unique in the region, as well.
The Greek Catholic church of the Holy Archangels was built in 1721, from oak logs by a carpenter named Toma Macarie.

When UNESCO designated parts of the Maramures Region in Northern Transylvania a WORLD HERITAGE site, it was aimed at protecting the stylized wooden architecture and its dramatic vernacular. Of particular appeal are the tall spires of orthodox churches that dot the area. One of these is the recently constructed Barsana Monastery complex - actually a convent with sixteen nuns

Vizit the Romanian 'valtoare' / whirlpool (vortex), a simple mechanism, installed on a fast mountain stream for washing laundry and inches, uses the natural speed of the water, captured above, and guided through a wooden gutter to a wooden bowl; also used in the mountain area of Romania, it has its origins in medieval times, being the World's First Natural Washing Machine , according to the Academy Of World Records.

Day 5: Sighetu Marmatiei - Merry Cemetery - Moldovita - Sucevita - Gura Humorului
Stop At: Merry Cemetery, Sapanta 437305 Romania
Visit Cimitirul Vesel or “Merry Cemetery,” over 800 wooden crosses bear the life stories, dirty details, and final moments of the bodies they mark. Displayed in bright, cheery pictures and annotated with limericks are the stories of almost everyone who has died of the town of Săpânţa.

Visit to the Moldovita monastery, another famous religious monument, founded by Pietro Rares in the 16th century and whose interior and exterior frescoes enchant the visitor.

Stop At: Sucevita Monastery, Dn17a 169, Sucevita 727510 Romania
The last of the painted monasteries that you will have the pleasure of admiring is the Sucevita monastery, founded by the Movila brothers in the seventeenth century. Like the previous two, too, it presents Gothic and Byzantine elements, which merge to form the fascinating Moldovan architectural style. The frescoes on the northern façade of this monastery have remained visible thanks to the protective walls that have never been demolished here.

Stop At: Ceramica neagra Marginea, Nearby Suceava Plateau and Bucovina's Obcini, Marginea Village, Suceava Romania
We continue with a visit to the local artisans of Marginea, who perform excellent work with the famous black ceramic, here you will have the opportunity to enter the workshop to closely observe the various working phases of ceramic pots, but you can also buy items typical of Bucovina. At Marginea you can buy not only ceramic vases, but also beautiful painted eggs and decorated with the traditional Romanian technique.

Day 6: Gura Humorului – Piatra Neamt – Bicaz Gorges – Sighisoara

We will head towards the Bicaz Gorges and then admire a breathtaking landscape. Along the gorges there is a market with typical handicrafts and souvenirs that make the attraction even more lively.

Visit of the Red Lake, a natural barrier lake, which was formed following the landslide of a part of a mountain, in fact the trunks of the trees are still present in the lake and this gives a particularly evocative atmosphere. The place is interesting especially for the legends that were born and have spread in reference to the name of the lake. During the visit you will become aware of these legends.

Day 7: Sighisoara - Bran - Brasov

We will continue our journey to Sighisoara, a famous and romantic fortified town whose historic center is UNESCO heritage and whose colorful houses remind us of its glorious past. The Tower of the Clock, symbol of the city, shows itself in all its beauty, and its streets and churches of different cultures lead us into a multicultural and multi-confessional city. Here, among other things, was born Vlad Dracula in 1431.

Later we proceed to Bran where we will visit the famous Bran Castle, better known as Dracula’s Castle. In the Middle Ages, Bran was exactly on the border between Wallachia and Transylvania, so it was essential for the inhabitants of Brasov to build and preserve a defensive stronghold

Visit Brasov, a wonderful Transylvanian town, once entirely fortified, an important cultural, tourist and commercial center. Brasov impresses with its typically German architecture, where the Gothic, the Baroque and the Renaissance intersect to give life to an interesting and culturally very lively city. Visit of the First Romanian School, which is located in the oldest district of the city, and which was inhabited exclusively by Romanians, the Schei district, interesting for the entrances into the city that were carried out in medieval times through the Caatherine’s and Schei Gate, quest last of the nineteenth century. In Brasov we will also visit the impressive Black Church, the largest evangelical Gothic church in Eastern Europe, with a 65 meter high bell tower and a length of 90 meters, the church houses the most beautiful nineteenth-century mechanical organ of Romania. We will then admire the palaces and houses of the historic center, recently restored, with the Council Square which now houses a beautiful museum, and the pedestrian Avenue of the Republic.

Day 8: Brasov - Sinaia - Bucharest
Stop At: Peles Castle, Str. Pelesului 2, Sinaia 106100 Romania
Visit to the fabulous Peles Castle, the summer residence of the first king of Romania, the King Charles 1 of Hohenzollern, of German origins. The castle was beautifully designed by a Czech architect, and is famous for being one of the most modern castles in Europe at the time of its construction, between the 19th and 20th centuries. Each room is characterized by a unique style, different from the styles of the other rooms. We will also admire the Florentine room, where we will breathe a typically Italian and Renaissance atmosphere.
