Stop At: Se de Lisboa, Largo da Se, Lisbon 1100

The Lisbon Cathedral began to be built in 1147 in the 12th century and was completed in the first decades of the 13th century when King D.Afonso Henriques with the knights who took part in the Second Crusade took the city from the Moors.

Duration: 10 minutes

Stop At: Church of St. Anthony, Largo de Santo Antonio da Se, Lisbon 1100

This church is allegedly located in the area where Santo António was born. The current temple was built in 1767, in the area where a chapel had existed since the 15th century. It was visited by Pope Saint John Paul II in 1982.

Stop At: Igreja de Sao Vicente de Fora, Largo Sao Vicente, Lisbon 1100

The Church of São Vicente de Fora dates back to a church begun in 1582 in the area where D. Afonso Henriques had ordered the construction of a primitive temple also under the invocation of São Vicente. This saint was proclaimed patron saint of Lisbon in 1173, when his relics were transferred from the Algarve to a church outside the city wall. Its construction only began in 1590 and was completed in 1627.

From this viewpoint you can observe one of the best panoramic views of the city of Lisbon: São Jorge Castle, part of Baixa de Lisboa, the Tagus River, Bairro Alto, Mouraria and the Monsanto Forest Park.

Stop At: Miradouro das Portas do Sol, Largo das Portas do Sol, Alfama, Lisbon 1100

This viewpoint is in the highest part of Alfama from where you can observe a magnificent view over the Alfama neighborhood, Tagus River, Church and Monastery of São Vicente de Fora and where the statue of São Vicente is located.

Downtown Lisbon is a central area built after the great Lisbon earthquake in 1755. It is an area with many shops, restaurants and hotels and is located between Terreiro do Paço, Rossio square and Figueira square.

Pass By: Chiado & Carmo, Lisbon

The Chiado area is one of the most emblematic and traditional neighborhoods in the city of Lisbon. It is located between Baixa Pombalina and Bairro Alto. It was the chic and cultural part of the Lisbon area and for this reason it has many theaters, bookstores (one of the main ones is Livraria Bertrand, one of the oldest in operation since 1937), shops, cafes (the famous Brazilian cafe A with an architecture of Art Nouveau and restaurants.

Stop At: Miradouro Sao Pedro de Alcantara, Rua de Sao Pedro de Alcantara, Bairro Alto, Lisbon 1250

This viewpoint is located in a garden in Lisbon opened in 1864. From the viewpoint you can see the São Jorge Castle, the Lisbon Cathedral and the Tagus River.

Free public romantic garden opened in 1853 which contains a Buçaco cedar measuring more than 20 meters in diameter.

Stop At: Assembleia da Republica, Praca de Sao Bento, Lisbon 1249

São Bento Palace, in neoclassical style, was built at the end of the 16th century (1958) as a Benedictine monastery, and has been the seat of the Parliament of Portugal since 1834.

Stop At: Basilica da Estrela, Praca da Estrela 12, Lisbon 1200

The Estrela Basilica is a Catholic temple and former convent of Carmelite nuns. In late baroque and neoclassical style. Opened in 1794.

You can visit if it is open, it usually closes at lunch time.

Stop At: Mosteiro dos Jeronimos, Praca do Imperio, Belém, Lisbon 1400

It is a Portuguese monastery, ordered to be built at the end of the 15th century by King D. Manuel I and was handed over to the Order of Saint Jerome, with construction beginning in 1502. Manueline style and made of limestone (lioz), sometimes also called of late Portuguese or flamboyant Gothic.

Stop At: Torre de Belem, Avenida Brasilia - Belem, Lisbon 1400

The Manueline-style Belém Tower began construction in 1514 and was completed in 1520. It served to defend the Tagus River with military and fiscal functions.

The Monument to the Discoveries (or Monument to the Discoveries; or Monument to the Navigators). Opened in 1960.

Pass By: Praca do Comercio (Terreiro do Paco), Avenida Infante Dom Henrique 1C, Lisbon 1100

Praça do Comércio (Terreiro do Paço) is a square in downtown Lisbon located next to the Tagus River, in the area where the palace of the kings of Portugal was located for around two centuries (which was completely destroyed in the Lisbon earthquake in 1755) . The square as seen now is the reconstruction of it after the earthquake according to the Marquês de Pombal plan. It is one of the largest squares in Europe with 79 arches.

Stop At: Alfama, Lisbon

Alfama is the oldest and one of the most typical neighborhoods in Lisbon. Characterized by its narrow, labyrinthine streets. It is known for its restaurants and Fado houses, as well as the festivities of the Popular Saints, especially in Santo António, from the 12th to the 13th of June.
