Rawson Square

Rawson Square, located in downtown Nassau, is the gateway to the city for cruise passengers. It is named after Sir Rawson W. Rawson, who was Governor of the Bahamas in the late 1860s. In the center of the square is a bronze bust of Sir Milo Butler, the first Governor General of the Bahamas in a Bahamas independent. A fountain in the square is named after Sir Stafford Sands, the first Minister of Tourism of the Bahamas.

Queen's Staircase

The Queen's Staircase, commonly known as the 66 Steps, is an important landmark located in the Fort Fincastle Historical Complex in Nassau. It was excavated from solid limestone rock by slaves between 1793 and 1794 and is said to have provided a direct route from Fort Fincastle to the city of Nassau. These steps were later named after Queen Victoria, who reigned over Britain for 64 years, from 1837 to 1901.

Pirates of Nassau Museum

This wax museum is dedicated to the life and times of pirates in the Bahamas and those who fought against them. There are dramatic reenactments of battles with sound and light; a series of exhibits depicting the life of pirates, their homes, tools and weaponry; how they were punished for indiscretions, including being marooned on a desert island; in addition to plaques on the wall providing historical details of the time. Pompey Museum of Slavery & Emancipation

The Pompey Museum is named after a brave slave, Pompey, who lived at Rolle Plantation in Steventon, Exuma, Bahamas. The historic Vendue House, or the Bourse as it was known, was built some time before 1769 and continued to function as a market until the end of the 19th century. Enslaved Africans and other merchandise were sold at the Vendue House during the 18th and 19th centuries. Pompey became a museum in 1992.
