Chenonceau Castle is undoubtedly one of the most unforgettable visits to the Loire Valley.

Residence of the royal family and property of the French crown for centuries, the place perfectly symbolizes French culture, not only due to its imposing and harmonious architecture, but also for being "bathed" with history and possessing an important collection of paintings, furniture Renaissance and tapestries of the sixteenth century worthy of admiration.

No wonder Chenonceau is now the second most visited castle in France after Versailles.

Stop At: Chateau Royal d'Amboise, Montee de l'Emir Abd El Kader, Montée de l'Emir Abd-el-Kader, Amboise 37400

This medieval fortress gives place to a royal residence under the reigns of the kings Carlos VIII and Francisco I (end of century XV to beginning of century XVI). Thus becoming a magnificent castle in the renaissance.

In addition to the kings, many European scholars and artists remain in Amboise at the invitation of the sovereigns, such as Leonardo da Vinci, whose tomb is kept in the Castle Chapel.

This Mecca of French History has an exceptional collection of Gothic and Renaissance furniture that testify to the artistic refinement of the first French renaissance.

Stop At: Le Chateau du Clos Luce - Parc Leonardo da Vinci, 2 rue du clos Luce, Amboise 37400

Possibility to visit the Clos Lucé. During a stay in Italy, King François 1st fell in love with the Renaissance and decided to invite one of the most renowned artists of the time to live in France. Thus, in 1516, at the age of 64, Leonardo da Vinci left Rome, crossed Italy with his sketchbooks and three paintings: the Mona Lisa, the Virgin, the baby Jesus and St. Anne and John, to settle in the Clos Lucé. François 1st, enchanted by the talent of Leonardo da Vinci appointed him first painter, engineer and architect of the king, positions that exerted until his death in May of 1519.
