Day 1: Yosemite National Park

Stop At: Yosemite National Park, California United States
Our day begins with an early start in San Francisco, filled with excitement for Yosemite National Park. As we leave the city behind, the drive takes us through rolling hills and the expansive agricultural fields of California's Central Valley. Passing through rural towns, we get a glimpse of local life in this fertile region.

Approaching the Sierra Nevada foothills, the landscape rises with curving roads through pine forests and oak woodlands. Anticipation builds as the rugged peaks of Yosemite come into view. Upon arrival, we’ll visit Lower Yosemite Falls, feeling the mist of the powerful waterfall, followed by Tunnel View, offering iconic views of Yosemite Valley, El Capitan, Bridalveil Fall, and Half Dome.

Later, we head to Oakhurst for a hearty welcome dinner, setting the tone for the adventures ahead.

Day 2: Yosemite National Park

Stop At: Yosemite National Park, California United States
Today offers free time to explore Yosemite Valley at your own pace. Visit the scenic viewpoints, enjoy activities in the valley, or opt for a self-guided hike like the iconic Mist Trail.

The Mist Trail follows the Merced River and provides stunning views of Vernal and Nevada Falls, two of Yosemite's most impressive waterfalls. The hike to Vernal Fall is about 1.5 miles, featuring steep granite steps alongside the rushing waters. During peak flow, mist from the falls creates rainbows but can make the trail slippery. Continuing another 2 miles to Nevada Fall, hikers are rewarded with panoramic views of the valley.

Afterward, we return to Oakhurst to relax and reflect on the day.

Day 3: Sequoia National Park

Stop At: Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park, California United States
Sequoia National Park is home to some of the largest and oldest trees on Earth, including the giant sequoias, which can grow over 300 feet tall and live more than 3,000 years. Our day begins with a scenic drive to the park, where we first visit the General Grant Tree, the second-largest by volume and known as the Nation’s Christmas Tree.

Next, we visit the General Sherman Tree, the largest tree on Earth by volume, standing over 275 feet tall and about 2,200 years old. A short, accessible trail allows for photos and reflection.

We then hike to the top of Moro Rock, where a steep staircase leads to panoramic views of the Great Western Divide and Sierra Nevada mountains. We end the day at our accommodations, sharing experiences and preparing for the next adventure.

Day 4: Kings Canyon National Park

Stop At: Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park, California United States
Kings Canyon National Park is celebrated for its rugged terrain and towering trees. Our adventure starts with the Big Stump Loop, a 1.5-mile hike revealing historic sequoia stumps from the logging era and showcasing conservation efforts. Next, we explore Boyden Cavern in the Kings River’s marble canyon, marveling at its stalactites, stalagmites, and flowstones. In the afternoon, we visit the Cedar Grove area, known for serene meadows, clear rivers, and dramatic cliffs. Trails like the Zumwalt Meadow Loop offer easy access to picturesque views, while Roaring River Falls and the Mist Falls Trail provide additional scenic highlights. The towering cliffs, including Grand Sentinel and North Dome, create a stunning backdrop for our hikes. After a day of exploration, we return to our accommodations to relax and reflect on the day’s wonders.

Day 5: Los Angeles

Our final day features a scenic drive from Kings Canyon National Park to Los Angeles, transitioning from majestic Sierra Nevada landscapes to the diverse terrain of central California. We descend from rugged mountains into rolling foothills with oak woodlands and grasslands, offering stunning views and photo ops. As we enter the Central Valley, known as California's breadbasket, we pass vast agricultural fields and charming rural towns, glimpsing local life and agriculture. Approaching Los Angeles, we shift from rural serenity to urban vibrancy. Depending on time, we may visit iconic spots like Lake Hollywood Park and Griffith Observatory for views of the Hollywood Sign and city skyline. Reflecting on our journey through California's stunning national parks, we conclude with lasting memories and a deeper appreciation for nature.
